Empower. Uplift. Cycle.
Inspired by a Legacy of Excellence
Inspired by the legacy of world champion cyclist Marshall “Major” Taylor, we are dedicated to breaking down barriers and making cycling in Michigan accessible for everyone.
From our home base in Detroit, we work across the state to foster inclusive cycling communities, advocate for safer streets, and empower every rider through education and support.

Major Taylor’s Legacy Breaking Barriers, Building Community
Marshall Walter “Major” Taylor (1878-1932) was a trailblazing athlete who shattered barriers and speed records alike. In 1899, he became the first Black American world champion in cycling, earning the title “fastest man on a bike” and achieving international fame decades before other Black athletic pioneers.
Major Taylor’s extraordinary achievements continue to inspire the vibrant diversity evident in Michigan’s cycling communities today. We believe cycling should be an activity that inherently welcomes, empowers, and celebrates participants from all backgrounds.
